The need for greater reliability in the final third has become increasingly apparent. While Füllkrug arrived with a strong reputation, injuries and inconsistency have limited his impact, leaving head coach Nuno Espírito Santo keen to identify a striker who can offer both physical presence and tactical discipline.

Strand Larsen is among the names being assessed, although any move remains at an early, exploratory stage and no formal approach has been made. The former Celta Vigo forward has quietly impressed since joining Wolves, earning praise for his strength, intelligent movement and willingness to do the unseen work off the ball.

Standing at 6ft 4in, Strand Larsen provides a clear focal point in attack but is also comfortable dropping deep to link play, a balance that appeals to West Ham as they look to blend direct football with more fluid attacking patterns. His Premier League experience and age profile are seen as positives, with recruitment staff viewing him as a player approaching his peak rather than a short-term fix.

Although his return of one Premier League goal from 15 appearances this season is modest, there is a belief that Wolves’ broader struggles have limited his output rather than exposed a lack of quality. His work rate and ability to occupy defenders are traits Nuno values highly.

West Ham, however, face competition. Several clubs in England and abroad are monitoring Strand Larsen’s situation, and Wolves are under no immediate pressure to sell. Any deal is likely to require a significant fee, particularly given the inflated nature of the January market.
