Rangers receive Silas Andersen transfer boost as sporting director confirms summer sale plans

Rangers have been handed encouragement in their pursuit of BK Hacken midfielder Silas Andersen after the Swedish club’s sporting director admitted a summer sale remains a possibility.

The Denmark Under-21 international has established himself as one of the standout young players in the Allsvenskan over the past year and is increasingly being linked with a move away from Sweden.

Andersen, 21, has impressed with his composure in possession, defensive awareness and ability to contribute in attacking areas. Comfortable operating at the base of midfield, he is viewed as a player capable of adding a different dimension to Danny Rohl’s side as Rangers continue their squad rebuild ahead of the new campaign.

The Ibrox club are expected to be active in the transfer market this summer. Chairman Andrew Cavenagh has already acknowledged the importance of the upcoming window as Rangers look to close the gap at the top and mount a stronger challenge for the Scottish Premiership title.

With recruitment a major focus, Andersen has emerged as a player of interest, and recent comments from Hacken could boost Rangers’ hopes of securing a deal.

The midfielder is regarded as one of the Swedish club’s most valuable assets and would likely command a significant fee. However, Hacken sporting director Erik Friberg has refused to rule out a departure.

Friberg said, as quoted by the Daily Record: “We will sell someone. We will. I can’t promise that Silas will stay. Nothing is clear yet; we’ll see where it goes.”

Those remarks are likely to attract attention from several interested clubs. Rangers are understood to be monitoring the situation closely, while Celtic have also been linked with the midfielder. Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon are believed to be among his admirers as well.

Although Hacken’s domestic campaign only began in April, Andersen’s future remains a talking point as speculation continues to grow.

Any deal is expected to require a substantial financial commitment, with reports suggesting Hacken could demand around £5.9 million. Rangers may view that figure as a worthwhile investment given Andersen’s potential and development trajectory.

Having already gained experience with Dutch side FC Utrecht before moving to Sweden, Andersen appears ready for the next step in his career, and Ibrox could yet prove to be his next destination.
